Our Years

Life was full of love when you arrived . . .
A ball of fur, cold nose, pleading eyes.

You asked so little to fulfill your needs . . .
Soft bed, cool water, rub my tummy please.?

Each day you would wake me in a happy mood . . .
It's morning, let's walk, I'm ready for food!

In the evenings you waited for me by the door . . .
Jumping, barking, let's play on the floor!

The years just flew by, your love always beamed . . .
Listening, cuddling, your secrets safe with me.

Now your love lives in my heart, through my tears
Your lifetime was too short in human years.
