For many
of us the loss of a loved pet is just as hard to bear as that
of a loved friend. Many times our pet is more than friend, they
are confidant, solace and enjoyment.
Do not expect that your grief for the animal will not exist, or
deny the feelings you have. You have known this pet and shared
an emotional bond.

Pets often
grieve the loss of their human companion. Do not allow your pet
to grieve endlessly, you may need to see your veterinarian to
help your pet through his emotional loss.

Animals experience
many of the same emotions as humans do. When confronted with
a bellowing cow, meat industry consultant and professor of
animal sciences, Dr. Temple Grandin noted, "That's one
sad, unhappy, upset cow. She wants her baby. Bellowing for
it, hunting for it. It is like grieving, mourning - not much
is written about it. People don't like to allow [animals]
thoughts or feelings."

A
source for pet grief is:
"In
Memory Of " Pets
Remembering the special gift our Loved Ones
gave to us, of " Love, Happiness and Understanding
" so we may remember : "A loved one is not gone,
until they are forgotten! And to live in the hearts of those
left behind is to live forever!
